MORE OF BEST OF BIRTHDAYS

I was a little behind this weekend and wanted to have 3 samples ready for the Best of Birthdays blog tour.  Well I finally have caught up and here are the other two.  I tied the blog tour and Best of Birthdays into tonight's class entitled "Poked, Scored & Distressed".  So here are the 3 cards.

This card was featured on the blog tour.  It uses Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, First Edition DSP and Parker's Patterns DSP.  This is going for the distressed look where I used the Distress Tool on all edges of the paper.

This is a simple card that I used the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate (that you can earn FREE with SAB).  Whisper white cs and Polka Dot DSP.  This is a card that can easily be STEPPED UP.

This card takes a little more time because you are using the Ovals Collection Framelit Dies and the Occasions Paper-Piercing set from the Spring Mini Catalog.  Notice the paper piercing (poking) on the Rich Razzleberry Oval and on the corners of the Pool Party cs.  Also the DSP, ribbon and button are from SAB collection - Sycamore Street.  You can earn these FREE too.  What do you think of the color combination.  It is not one I would come up with but SU does such a great job with DSP and colors.  Here you have Pool Party, Summer Starfruit and Rich Razzleberry.  Love love love it.

I hope you enjoyed the blog tour and my 2 additions.  Come back next month for the blog tour featuring Best of Love stamp set.  There will be lots of ideas for you to try with that stamp set.

Thanks for stopping - Jackie

RemARKable Stamp of the Month Blog Tour - February 2013

Month four of our blog tour and today we are featuring Collage Curios.  I'm only featuring one card this month but including a technique that we did at my Technique Class a few weeks back.  I hope you enjoy.

This card was one we did in my technique class a few weeks ago.  It features the Creped Filter Paper from the Spring 2013 Mini.  I will provide step by step instructions so you can recreate the flower.  The card is pretty simple.

I took one of the rectangle sheets and punched out 5 flowers using Blossom Punch.  Using reinkers (I choose Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie) and an Aqua Painter, I started with the center of the flower and the Melon Mambo.  Cleaned my Aqua Painter and then finished with Pumpkin Pie on the remainder.  Save a little scrap of creped paper for the center of the flower or use a brad.  Color it in Melon Mambo.  I then took a Stampin' Spritzer filled with rubbing alcohol and a little Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and spritzed each of the 5 flowers quite wet to get the colors to run a little and to give them a shimmer.  Let dry completely (can use a heat gun to speed up the drying).

While they are drying I stamped the flower image from Mixed Bunch stamp set on Whisper White cs using the same colors of the flower.  Pumpkin Pie marker and Melon Mambo marker to color the stamp.  I used the small butterfly from Collage Curios in Melon Mambo and stamped randomly on the Whisper White cs.  I love this little butterfly and will be using it and the bee alot!
When the creped filter paper flowers are dry scrunch them up individually.  Slightly unfold and adhere in the center to each other using a hot glue gun.  Do NOT align the petal, but off set them to get a fuller look.  Adhere the flower center with hot glue and then adhere to Whisper White cs.  Scrunch up the flower again to give it fullness and 3D appearance.  Stamp your sentiment (I used Curly Cute stamp set).  Finish card.  I used Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Melon Mambo cardstock.  Inks were Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie. Lots of accessories used with this card and it is a bit time consuming (waiting for it to dry), but my class loved trying the Creped Filter Paper and the spritzer mixture.  Hope you will give it a try.  Remember Stampin' Up! has been

Thank you for looking at my card.  Now click the button below to go to Susan Carlson's blog.  Stop back for some more ideas with the Spring Mini and SAB products.
